There is a reason it is called "user agent" - primary focus should be to do users bidding. User agent should have some sort of interpreter throttling so that this mining activity, which is of no benefit to the user, is effectively halted. As soon as that goes away in a more widespread manner, the power balance radically shifts in the advertising providers' favor.
The only reason ad blocking has been as wildly successful as its been up until now is because ads are trivially identifiable because they come from different servers than content. It's only going to get harder as they get sneakier about intermingling ads and content in the data streams from the server, and unfortunately it's probably an arms race that the advertising providers will win because it'll get to the point where it'll be prohibitively expensive on the client side to separate the wheat from the chaff.
